U96 RELEASED THE ALBUM "20.000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA" FOR THEIR 30TH ANNIVERSARY.
Almost 30 years ago the first Techno album ever was released: "Das Boot" by U96. In Germany, the “12inch” stayed at number 1 for months, and sold more than 1,000,000 copies. U96 was the commercial forerunner of the techno movement. This was followed by various top 10 hits: "Heaven", "Club Bizarre", "Love Religion" and "Love sees no colour", which still enjoy cult status today.
On Spotify alone, U96 has almost half a million monthly listeners. At the end of the 90s, the 4 head producers' team then went their separate ways. Since 2014, Ingo Hauss and Hayo Lewerentz continue to develop the U96 story. In their "Maschinenraum" studio in Hamburg, they go back to the roots with the album "REBOOT" and record the album “Transhuman” as a collaboration with ex Kraftwerk member Wolfgang Flür.
In 2022 Ingo and Hayo return to their home port at Motor Music with U96. But this is only the beginning: Together with cult actor Claude-Oliver Rudolph (James Bond etc.), U96 developed, for the occasion of their 30th anniversary, a show that is both visually and acoustically powerful.
Some key titles of this event like "New Life", "Atlantis", "Ich, Nemo" are now also the basis for the new album "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea", which interprets the genre of techno broadly and spans the arc from intense contemporary techno to impressive worlds of sound.
